Soon after he qualified, Gonzalo moved to London to gain exposure to large scale and international projects. He worked for prestigious international architectural firms such as ‘RTKL’ and ‘Broadway Malyan’. During his four years in London, Gonzalo worked on international award winning shopping centres, luxury hotels and mixed-used developments across the world.


Gonzalo’s passion for travelling and adventure brought him to South Africa in 2008. A keen sportsman and sports enthusiast, Gonzalo was delighted to join Ruben Reddy Architects shortly after his arrival in South Africa - where he soon became the team leader for sports architecture, under the mentorship of Ruben Reddy.


Gonzalo has been involved in high profile sports tournament planning such as the 2010, 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups in South Africa, Russia and Qatar respectively, as well as more recently the 2022 Commonwealth Games in his hometown, Durban.


In addition, Gonzalo has led teams undertaking the design and construction of various hospitals around South Africa as well as other transportation, education, institutional, commercial and residential projects.


Gonzalo, in line with his personal pursuit of new challenges, is fully committed to creating an environment of growth for both the professional individuals and the practice in his new role as one of the four appointed Directors of Ruben Reddy Architects.
