Ruben Reddy Architects, as part of the Architects Consortium Ilembe, were commissioned the design and construction the new ‘green fileds’ airport King Shaka International in Durban.

 

Ruben Reddy Architects role focused on the design and construction of various aspects of the terminal building as well as the urban fabric surrounding the terminal. The ticket sales area, baggage check in area, airside corridor as well as airlines and governmental department areas were designed and built by Ruben Reddy Architects. 

Other contributions included the design and construction of finishes for the entire terminal building and coordination and allocation of all retail space.

 

In addition to this, the practice was tasked with designing all the hard-landscaped areas surrounding the airport terminals. The cooling tower building, which houses the SAPS offices amongst others, was also designed by Ruben Reddy Architects. ​
